I did a wonderful alpine hike today in Olympic National Park. The weather was a mix of clouds, mist and sun, always windy with temps in low 40s F. I had a wonderful time, I really enjoy hikes above tree line. I did see an unexpected bird there, I'll leave that as a bit of a teaser for another post
This is an Olympic Marmot family. The Olympic Marmot is unique to the Olympic Mountains, a close relative of the Vancouver Marmot (rare and endangered) and the Hoary Marmot (the most common). For more info on them; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olympic_marmot
