It's nice to see so many amazing photos being posted every month. Personally, I've not had much time for photography lately, but that'll soon change hopefully.

Post your best shot from August, and vote for your top 3 from competition #26:
https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1309989

Last month's winner was retrofocus at 23 points. Congratulations!

http://martinbluhm.zenfolio.com/img/s5/v131/p824915391-5.jpg

Simple rules:

1. Your entry must have been photographed using alt lens or gear.

Canon DSLR using Canon auto focus lens is NOT alt.
Nikon DSLR using Nikon auto focus lens is NOT alt.
Anything else IS alt, including all mirrorless systems.

2. Your entry must have been photographed during August for this run.
3. One entry per user/month.
4. Your entry must contain your top 3 picks from the last competition. You may not vote for your own photo. The top vote gets 3 points, the runner-up gets 2 points, and the last vote gets 1 point. Please include a short explanation of the reasons for your top pick.

For the voting part, you'll find the competition #26 contributions here:
https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1309989

Pick your top 3, and name them in your post.

Please leave the EXIF intact, and copy the following, adding info for your entry.

Part of a satire project I'm working on making fun of teenagers and their phones.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Camera body: A7r
Lens: FD 20mm f2.8
Aperture: f11
Filters: none
Short note on PP: ACR/PS with rather a lot of dodge/burn and some contrast adjustments

This next bit is hard, it really was an incredible set of pictures!

Top vote (3p) + reason: CarstenW. For pure 'feel' this picture works incredibly well. I LOVE the 'picture within a picture' created by the doorways at the bottom right, the eye doesn't even notice it for what it is at first.
Runner-up vote (2p): Ulff, got a feeling he's going to cream the votes, it's an incredible image.
Last vote (1p): Jman13, not seen colours like that since I shot Velvia 50 and it's a very pleasant composition.

Congrat retrofocus. It's quite a moody color shot.

Phoenix Rising

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Camera body: A7s
Lens:Zeiss ZM 2,8/15
Aperture: f11
Filters: None
Short note on PP: Nik Viveza, a little bit more contrast compared to the original version
Top vote (3p) + reason: CarstenW. I usually prefer a color picture, but this B+W conversion is really nice. There is a lot of interplay between the elements in the picture. The heavy contrast really accentuates such interaction.
Runner-up vote (2p): sebboh. I just want to say that I love the expressions of the kids
Last vote (1p): Ulff. I think if there is just a human presence in the shot, that would make this the first choice for me. Perfectly composed but otherwise too perfect

Congratulations, retrofocus, fantastic shot!

This one gave me vertigo composing. I was holding my tripod at arms length, composing on the flip screen and releasing with an outstretched arm. It was far down, no railing...

Runner-up vote (2p): AlexTheodin
Last vote (1p): CalBoy87
Honourable mention: sebboh. I almost included this one, it was so cool, but the blur was just a little too strong on the other two faces, and I missed seeing the expressions more clearly...

August was a pure vacation month and browsing through the files i see that i took mostly Vacation snapshots and portraits of my girlfriend (she wouldn't be too happy about posting those... ). I think my favorite for the month is an iPhone shot, processed through Instagram. Its still some sort of alternative gear, right?

still there by AlexTheodin, on Flickr

Camera body: iPhone 4S
Short note on PP: Instagram (cant recall the filter i used)
Top vote (3p) + reason: CalBoy87 I like the sepia tones, and i like the scene even more. reminds me of an old hollywood movie.
Runner-up vote (2p): Ulff One point perspective works great!
Last vote (1p): Phillip Reeve Usually Fireworks pics tend to be boring, but here it completes the whole composition making an interesting picture.

thanks carsten! i actually chose that picture because of that (and my daughter's face). i wasn't sure how the other parents would feel about recognizable pictures of their daughter on a public internet forum. i actually have another great one where the girl pushing the car's face is crystal clear (as are the passenger's) and her legs look like roadrunner in the cartoon.

anyway, i've been either bed bound or on crutches all month, so not many options this time.

Top vote (3p) + reason: Taylor Sherman - i love birds and the pacific northwest, and it's just a great shot
Runner-up vote (2p): AlexTheodin
Last vote (1p): Phillip Reeve

also, super tough decision this month, i could easily have gone with the shot from carstenw, Beni, or snowboarder.

Camera body: Ricoh GR
Lens: the lens on the Ricoh GR
Aperture: f/5
Filters: None
Short note on PP: Rather simple B&W conversion
Top vote (3p) + reason: Twoeye - love the expression on the animal ... very humanistic
Runner-up vote (2p): 15Bit - how can I not like this image - the expression is very telling.
Last vote (1p): Sebboh - always love your work. Great emotional connection as always!

This is my first time entering anything here ... so I hope I am doing this all correctly. This image was one I had previously posted in the GR thread in color. I am a HUGE B&W fan, so I of course, had to do a conversion of the shot. Since my parents prefer color - I showed color for them, but prefer the B&W myself. The image is of my parents in their pool kissing as I urge them to get out and take cover from the lightening storm that is approaching. I don't know if it was the beer (see many cans) or the cool breeze on the pool, but they weren't going anywhere...

Ah, good point, I didn't think of that. My girlfriend also doesn't want me to post photos of our daughter on general forums.
