Taken last Monday on Holbox Island on the north end of the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. I'm not normally a bird or wildlife photographer but the sight of all of these flamingoes in the wild was truly spectacular. I'd actually walked out to the sandbar where they were feeding and had turned around to photograph a pelican diving into the water for fish when I heard the big swoosh of their wings, turned around and saw these guys taking off.

Absolutely magical.

Nice pano shot and thanks a lot for the info. I always wanted to find them but I never did on the west coast of Mexico.

This is a beautiful image, nice choice for pano crop too.
Almost all Flamingo pics are of captive birds in a zoo, so it's really cool to see them in such large numbers in their natural habitat.
Thanks for sharing this, really enjoyed it.

A super shot Gareth - I really like it. you will get more responses if you post the image here instead of linking. Let me know if you want me to take it down ~ Ron

Thank you all for the comments, it's funny, I usually take landscapes so the moment evolves very gradually for the shot relatively speaking (although a Mexican sunset from Holbox usually involves me running down the beach to get the second opportunity!!!) but this was a very different experience. Quite exhilarating.
