Love the handheld pose... wouldn't want to get weak arms in the moment, that would be one pricey fall

Wow!

Did someone once say that Canon was not innovative?

I like how the M makes it more compact.

I'm waiting for version II. I hear it will be half the weight and twice the price.

Wow^1000!

A couple of these boxes will look good as panniers in my dirt bike.

Seems highly impractical, unless you were an FBI agent

I recommend watching with the funny music turned off. It seems less special... a couple guys with a big lens. ;-)

Muting the music seemed to make their grins even wider; what fun!

Price tag on this baby is $83,000 but don't forget about full time assistant cost needed to help carry it. In my area, probably another $83,000

Incredible shots. I love the part with the EOS M attached. Looks funny but does a pretty good job.

Some day I hope to see the lens deployed in a manner appropriate to its focal length and nominal aperture, i.e, for long reach quality photography, be that in sports (e.g. surfing, soccer, car races, etc.), or wildlife (e.g. Alpine goats, Californian condors etc.), or celestial objects (e.g. the Moon), or paparazzi shots (e.g. celebrity weddings).
In my view the subject type of 1200L reach/magnification demonstration by shooting various cityscape elements amounts to little else but dilettante exhibitionism.

Of course the first thing they do is add a TC

As a long lens user I am certainly impressed each time I see the lens in videos like this. However, I can't help but to wonder about the performance by measured today's standards. Focus speed and accuracy and the IQ. I just want to know if all my day dreaming is warranted and I should buy a lottery ticket

I agree At straight 1200 on a full frame, is it appreciably (ie eight times) better than my 500 F4 II + 1.4 TC on a crop body, which gives 1150mm @ F5.6 and only costs $11k?

Clearly shows that you can nicely attach a mirrorless camera to a big lens. Would have also (better ) worked with Sony A7R and Metabones adapter.

The EF 200/1.8L was released five years before the EF 1200/5.6L, and that little 200mm has the highest score ever achieved at the old Photodo lens resolution test site. The focus speed on my 200/1.8L is maybe not quite as fast as my 70-200/2.8L IS II, but it's plenty fast to track field sports, and its AF accuracy is only limited by the camera that it happens to be on. I have no doubt that the 1200/5.6L measures up just fine, at least in terms of AF accuracy and IQ.
