Yeah John, size increased substantially today. Just speaking for me here, but I've found that most times my 300 2.8 is generally more lense than I need there, and my 70-200 works really well. But this swell's a fat one, so the biggest sets break farther out, especially at low tide.
Another angle is to go farther north up the beach with the bigger glass and shoot back towards the rocks. Late afternoon/early evening western sun is gorgeous, and lights up the riders in the barrels.
