Probably one of my most favorite Snowy Owl images that I have captured would have to be this one taken at Damon Point State Park in Washington during the last "echo" irruption out there. What is ironic is that when I made took that trip out there for my first Snowy Owl experience I had to fly across the country. This past winter, they were all over the east coast and I only had to drive a hour and a half over the Pennsylvania to see them. This though, is by far my most memorable shot of a Snowy Owl. Thanks for looking and comments are much appreciated.

If you would like an honest critique, not sure it really works for me. The composition itself is quite nice. However, for me, and I'm think many others, the eyes of the snowy are an amazing attraction. This image is void of this attribute. Do you have any with the eyes open?

Perhaps other might jump in on this.

Hi Joshua...

While I agree with Ed's comment above about the attraction of Snowy Owl eyes, I like this one just because it doesn't show the eyes...that little bit of difference sets it apart from the traditional photos of Snowy Owls and makes it special.

If I had to nit pick, I think I'd like to see the sky a little deeper blue. Perhaps there's something you could do in processing to make it pop just a little more.

Great shot.

I like the image. The branches form a cup for the owl to perch in. Kinda neat.

Thanks guys. Always open to honest critiques Ed. While I do agree with your assessment regarding the eyes, and have lots of other shots of Snowy Owls and their captivating eyes open, but what I like most about this is that the Owl looking peacefully at rest with its' head hung down, as though it is sleeping.

I like it. The owl just fits perfectly in a cup of pines.

I like it, partly because of the interesting perch, and partly because it is a different look from most snowy owl shots. Yes, showing the eyes can be dramatic, but this one is peaceful. Great shot!

The image is certainly different than the norm for Snowy Owls, but it has its own aesthetic appeal: eyes closed while nestled and wrapped in the pine makes for a wonderful, peaceful scene.

This is one of those images were the cuteness factor makes up from everything else. I mean....isn't that cute!? Lovely shot.
