Has anyone here used 100-400 or 70-200 lens on the A6000 With the metabones adaptor and what was it like? Particularly how was the AF?

If Af speed is important, look elsewhere. None of the adapted Canon lenses are fast.

Now an LA-EA2 and a 70-400 SSM on the other hand should be pretty speedy (and a bit better optically)

I was looking for a small camera my 9yr old daughter could use on one of my existing lenses while on safari in Namibia. Ive pretty much decided to just get an SL1 as I think that will be small enough.I mat still get the A6000 anyway as it looks pretty good.

Yep, if you have the 100-400L already and that use case, a SL1 would work well. Normally I wouldn't recommend that combo (too much lens for the body) but in this case the SL1 would probably work better for a 9 year old's hands than a larger body which balances better on the 100-400L.

Yeah I'm actually going to put the SL1 with my 70-200 F4 and 1.4x and my daughter will be able to handle it with a monopod or resting on a bean bag. The SL1 is so freaking tiny I reckon it will become my grab and go body with the 24mm pancake.

Since you have the 70-200 f4, that will probably be a good fit for her. If not, a 55-250 STM and SL1 is a nice light package.

You originally mentioned the A6000. That and an SEL 16-50 pancake (or the 20mm pancake) and a 55-210 is a nice portable kit with a little reach.
