p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Field peas

My grandfather, who died in 1974 at 95, grew the same field peas forever. My father grew them too, and I've been growing them for about 30 years myself. I don't know the name, but we always called them "Daddy B's peas", after what we called my grandfather. Anyway, I love the peas, but have never shot them - until now. Ants herd aphids on these peas but I haven't seen any "aphid farms" this year yet.
So here are a few shots. Exif should be attached, and as always, C&C appreciated ~ Ron

2) One of the herders.

3) I'm not sure if this was a friend or foe interaction.

Great close ups, Ron, and made even more special by the family backstory . Always nice to have something near us to serve as a reminder of the ones we hold most dear.

That is such a wonderful generational story Ron. The photos are wonderful too and thanks for sharing them. Do you get lady bugs feasting on the aphids too?

Super shots, Ron. I love hearing your family tradition story. I love thing that was passed down from generation to next generation. It is very sweet.

Great backstory Ron... the blooms are very pretty, and the ants are cool to see in such good detail. Excellent close-up work my friend.

Well done Ron. The first really shows off the bloom well. Good job with getting lots of detail on the ants. Love that 100mm macro lens.

I'm guessing the same as 'sweet pea flower"?

Tiny beauties Ron that will now have a pleasing meaning to them when I see them. There are a few area I hiked that these were abundant and always caught my attention.

Take care buddy

Thanx Mitesh. Every time we eat these peas, I think about the past.

Thanx Eric. We do see an occasional lady but, but more wasps and yellow jackets.
