p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Repaired - d600 - 6 FPS?

My d600 just got back from Nikon. According to the packing slip, I got a free cleaning, AF adjustment, and an entirely new shutter (and associated parts).

After I thought about what the D610 changed, it seemed likely that I ended up with a D610 shutter. If so, did I end up with the 6 FPS of the d610?

Thought?

Shouldn't you have gotten a brand new D610 as per the lawsuit?

I wasn't part of the lawsuit.

FPS is primarily limited by the read speed of the sensor and the image processing. Of course the mirror assembly needs to be tuned for the maximum speed and the shutter needs to be able to cycle in that time, but 6FPS is hardly difficult.

Umm.... how about you just your shooting camera and telling us what your FPS is? How is anyone here going to know, it's your camera, in your hands...

It works fine. But, I have no idea how to test FPS between 5.5 and 6 FPS with a stopwatch.

You can check the FPS by using exiftool to look at the creation timestamps of a burst, which on the D600 is accurate to the hundredth of a second. Examples:

Create Date : 2013:06:25 08:56:22.50

Create Date : 2013:06:25 08:56:32.70

Create Date : 2013:06:25 09:02:42.10

It looks like 1/10th of a second to me since the last digits are zero.

My D600 had a new shutter installed by the service agents in New Zealand in 5 working days.
In now achieves 6fps so I presume simply has the D610 shutter.

Confirmed the speed by shooting a clock face showing milliseconds. Several attempts yielded 6 frames were recorded in 0.93 seconds.

Thank you. When I thought about it, it dawned on me that it would be idiotic for Nikon to stock two shutter mechanisms.

Very happy with my camera.
