Beautiful shots, and a great variety, Eric. I think #4 takes the prize!

Beautiful stuff, Eric! I'm starting to get even more appreciation for the beauty of African birds- it's so easy just to think of the "Big 5", but clearly, there is so much diversity and you bring it to us so well

Africa is certainly more than the Big5...people go there just to bird especially in Botswana.

Wow fantastic shots all of them... but IMHO #4 should be occupying the first spot on the thread, what a great shot of lion cubs!!! You have my vote!!!

Another great set, Eric. All of these are excellent. The Carmine Bee Eater takes the prize for me. First I've seen one. What a gorgeous specimen.

Ed

Thanks Ed...we were lucky to be there when they were nesting. It was an amazing sight as they set up a colony in the sand with hundreds and hundreds of birds.

Superb set Eric. You must have worn out a couple shutters on your trips to Africa. Tons of great shots.

Thanks Ken...fortunately I've haven't had one crap out while on safari

Very nice work Eric, what a nice morning tour of Bots before heading to work The lion cubs take the cake for me even with the African Softball ! Who cleans that place anyway You did clean up the last one nicely, well done. One further suggestion; if you going to dodge or burn use a luminosity layer and if possible curves. That method isn't destructive

Tim

Thanks Tim...I need a virtual tour or a trip down memory lane with not having anything in the works.

Excellent series. Great variety and all well composed. Beautiful.

Many thanks Brian...it is the variety that makes Africa such an amazing place to visit. You may be after leopards but an "unsuccessful" morning may mean lions, hippos, giraffes, eles etc.

It blows my mind as to how many great experiences and images you have from your trips Eric... and here is another wonderful set of pics and memories for you.
My faves here are 4 and 5... love the playful interaction between the two lion cubs, and the AGH is a really cool looking bird on a great perch with a sweet BG.
Well done.

Beautiful set. Numbers 1 and 4 are the most impressive, but I love the feather detail in 2 and the beauty of the bird in 3. As for your comment about the Bennet's--it's probably related to the Northern flicker, another woodpecker that spends time foraging on the ground.

Nancy

Thanks Nancy for your nice comment and picks...not sure about the relationship but it's certainly possible

You are much to kind Kirk...patience is important and understanding the animals behavior...not very different from your approach to birding. Thanks so much my friend.

Yes, they've all been through the processor but only just now...it took 2 years to get to them.
