Lake Heron, Ashburton lakes.

A spectacular area, driven straight past by all the tourists, and many locals. Huge locations, big vistas, lakes, epic scenes. Mostly unloved. Doing my best to change that!

Hey Rob,

Very cool. Nice job on working the composition to look so nice even with those clear skies. That dominate foreground object really works.

Why on earth would you?
Treasure it for now. It will get destroyed soon enough.

Rob,

Beautiful shot Rob. I really like the angle you got so the rocks appear in the FG and slowly disappears as the scene progresses back. I'm at work but on this un-calibrated monitor, seems like there are some cyan casts on the rocks and the log.

Now that is a great scene. Comp & POV.
As already mentioned, the foreground really put's it in context

Thanks for posting

A few more people wouldn't hurt! The area is huge

Great foreground interest to a spectacular photo. Lovely light to boot.

Maybe you shouldn't. So many really beautiful places get spoilt when the masses discover them. Perhaps you should just quietly enjoy that wonderful serenity. I was in Iceland this winter. In March it was now busier than it was in the high season the first time I visited a number of years ago. Pro is that it has become a lot easier to organise a trip there, but con is that you have to get a lot further away to enjoy the silence.

Lovely shot by the way.

True, Iceland seems to be exploding on the photo tourism market.

New Zealand already has some of that, but has many quiet places you can still find , most are not easily accessible to tourists
