Beautiful set, Ray. Too hard to pick favorites, but quetzals are sure hard to beat.
What camera do you use with the Swarovski scope? Is there an accessory mount for cameras?
Hi Jim, thanks very much.
I use all of my cameras with the spotting scope. We can quickly change mounts, which is a great feature for my guests in the field to test this equipment. There are no electronics in the lens. I usually shoot full manual exposure, manual focus, and fixed aperture, so we control exposure with iso and shutter speed.
This system is a huge advantage for the times when your subject is small, out of regular reach, and not moving much! But, having said that, one could be lucky and catch a shot like this:
This was a case of turn the focus barrel and pray!
If you want an honest opinion on how I got this shot @ 1440mm with no auto focus, my answer is pure luck., since I have little practice shooting fast moving subjects with this kit.
Another fun example of the use of this kit.... here, I could not get the whole bird in the frame without asking the guide to move the safari truck, backwards. So, I focused in on the beak, and fired about 8 frames at 1/20 sec., this shot was taken with the 65mm lens, so the effective focal length is 1200mm @ f 11.
So, you got the long winded response, sorry, but I love this kit, and everything about it!
Thanks again for the nice comment.
