This portrait is straight out of the camera except for a slight crop to get the people off center. I had them walk thru this beautiful filtered sunlight near sunset and this is what I got. It isn't nearly as attractive as it was to see it.

I added the 2nd version where I removed some dead leaves and a post.

Very nice. How do you think it might look with just a bit of warmth added?

Funny you said that because I added some after I posted it. I think I prefer it. Thanks Jim and Steve.

I like it with the added warmth. I like this photo very much. It looks natural and I like how the Dad is looking down toward his daughter.

Definitely like the warmth. I do feel a little disconnected from the image, but that's just me.

Thanks sdgnh, Prettym1k3 and coreybell. I appreciate your comment prettym1k3 but curious as to what about it makes you feel disconnected?

Are the spots by the bridge flares?

It was just things floating in the air. the sunlight was filtered and I could see whatever it was without the camera. I have no idea what it was.

Bugs/insects? That would be my guess.

Definitely like version 3 the best.

If it were my image, I might add a smidge of saturation to it.

Nice capture Kathy !

Thanks for sharing!

definitely like the warmer edit...I would straighten the "horizon" (make the pillars vertical)

I find that pictures of people's backsides tend to work better as silhouettes. I also feel disconnected since I can't see the faces of the subjects. I think this picture would look better if they were walking toward the camera. Otherwise I like it.

I think the walking away composition with the back lighting gives it a timeless look.
A really nice shot.

Thanks for all the comments both for and against the pose. I did of course shoot front facing pictures of this family in this and many other poses. I just liked this one and thought it showed the family dynamic at a given point in time.
