I recall a few years back when I purchased a D200 for a friend in the Netherlands. I was shooting with the Canon 5D at the time. I had possession of the D200 and a couple of lenses for a few months so I had occasion to shoot with it. I was amazed at how much better made the DX Nikon was in comparison to my FX Canon. Later I purchased a D700 and eventually sold all my Canon gear. I've not held the 5D mark III but what is reported here certainly doesn't surprise me. Whether it makes a difference in performance is another matter I can't comment on. But I'm certainly happy with my D700.
