First congratulations on a fine capture. Good comp, exposure, background and subject isolation. I am sure some can make suggestions to enhance or reduce some elements but I like it as is, the second that is.

The crop is great for web because it allows you to show off the great detail, but I want the blue feet. I might crop the top as you did in the first image and perhaps some off the bottom.

You could darken some of the bright rocks, but the one behind the head helps show the head so I would leave it as is.

Good work, you have a great image here.

PS, I was expecting a different image when I read the title.

Thanks, Similar thoughts (about the bird , love the detail in the crop but thought it had to have the blue feet. After all, what is a blue footed booby if you don't have the feet. Good suggestions - I'll try taking a bit off the top and bottom without making it feel crowded and darkening some of the brighter rocks.

Thanks!

Exactly!
And so nicely captured, as Ben described.

Say what you will about the blue feet being a must, I'm too busy drowning in all of that insane detail from the first shot!

Looks like it either just popped out of the water or is molting.

Great captures, Pete!

Quick and dirty BW conversion.

+1

Also, to color of the bill ranging from the warm tones to the blue is pretty killer stuff ... not to mention the fact that you can see the protective eyelid that looks like it closes similar to camera aperture (rotational) ... i.e. too sweet, to need blue feet.

Beautiful images with lots of detail. Wish my shots of Blue Boobies were half as good...

Great images, I saw tons of these on a trip to the Galapagos. I'd skip the crop and keep in the feet. Perhaps drop the sharpness a tad just to make it look more natural. The cropped image has a bit of an oil painting feel to the bokeh.
