Mirrorless companies are losing boat loads of cash. It's time to throw some Hail Mary's. This could be one of them.

That would be an interesting concept. It would mean that Olympus might add to the thin line of really interesting FE lenses with some nice primes too, perhaps. I would welcome and support such an enterprise from Olympus. I have had one dSLR from Olympus, it was one of the better cameras I have used but I never got hooked on the sensor format.

I don't think too much of this rumor - but if true I really welcome Olympus back to the FF arena. I am also hoping for an Pentax/Ricoh full frame. I am not holding my breath in either case but I think Sony does push the FF agenda in a positive way by offering FF sensors to other brands.

It sounds unlikely, but it would be fantastic news. The E-M1 is by far my favorite mirrorless camera when it comes to feel, shooting experience,...

I would be good to have another player that could deliver some E-mount lenses. I am not that interested in the camera itself because I don't plan to let my A7 go for at least 2 years from now, but lenses could be interesting. I think it would also encourage people to invest in E-mount lenses - you can use C/Y Zeiss lenses also on Canon or even Nikon if needed, but with E-mount you only have Sony as platform available.

Seems unlikely, particularly the E-Mount bit, but I'd welcome it happening.

Sorry but it sounds ludicrous. They'll make a FF camera with a sony mount? Yeah right. The sensor specs are just as silly. 32 megapixels Sony sensor? Why on earth would sony make a 32 megapixel sensor just for Oly?

Sounds unlikely, but Sony owns 11.46% of Olympus and might see this as a way to increase indirect market shares.

How many times have we seen rumours about a full frame Pentax dslr? If Olympus would use FE mount that would actually make it slightly less unbelievable to me, since they don't have any existing FF lenses of their own. Still, I'd categorise this with the Pentax FF rumours.

There's a difference, there actually was an FF Pentax DSLR which never made it to production (it was based on the MZ-S film body and used the same 6MP Phillips sensor that was a disaster with the Contax N Digital).

The flip side is that this does kinda make sense. Oly needs a flagship, they're closely tied to Sony and Sony needs both more FE glass and more selection in FE bodies.

If this pans out and has 5-axis stabilization, we've just seen the new standard in alt lens cameras arrive.

It would be great if e-mount became m42 version 3.0

I find this rumor less interesting than the one that will bring a new firmware to add 4k video to the E-M1. Plus, they've invested a rather lot in m43 to go off in some other direction now, IMHO.

Plus, 43rumors has backed off that full-frame rumor, I'm afraid.

The rumor also states:
"Unfortunately, it seems like the sensor will not offer image stabilization features."

This would be tragic.

Sony actually posted an unexpected first quarter profit for their Imaging division:

Unless Sony is subsidizing it, it makes little sense imo as the lenses are likely where any profit would be for Olympus, not the body.

This collaboration also makes sense for Olympus in one more way. Their current lineup is lacking in video capabilities - maybe Sony will help them with this one feature that Panasonic leads them in.

I’d like to see Olympus fixing the shutter vibrations in the M-1, delivering tracking capability and using the Foveon(like) sensor technology in the next camera design.
Currently, with the Panasonic, Sony (or whatever sensor they’re using) the µ4/3 is at dead end.

I think they would be better off making FE lenses than FE bodies

The first two would be good, the third suggestion would be a a very poor decision, given the poor quality of Foveon style sensors.

I completely disagree

Didn't the EM1 get the 0-sec delay ability? That should have taken care of shutter shock (not that I ever experieced it, and I really tried to induce it).

Tracking - always a good thing.

Foveon - no thanks.

Dead end - disagree Sensor technology always progresses, so all formats reap the benefits.
