....decide to really push that IS on your new lens as you take photos of a beautiful sunset on a gently rocking dock.... only to notice after the sunset is three quarters over that you had IS switched to the OFF position the whole time.



(let this be a lesson to stick to your 17-40L or 16-35 2.8 or whatnot and not go for the new model with IS that makes you dumb)

(thankfully I was shooting so wide angle that (and since these are not really detail, detail scenes) I think some might be OK even with the IS off)

I love shooting really wide too. You don't have to focus, you don't even have to point it in the 'right ' direction - 'over there' is usually good enough.

I still can't find the stupid IS switch on my 16-35/2.8L II.

anyway glad I was able to prove that a sharp lens with IS can be less sharp than a less sharp lens without IS when used in the 'real world', outside the lab

It's a hardware issue typically caused by a loose nut behind the viewfinder.
