p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Back to the beach.

We wound up spending a few more days at the beach in the Outer Banks of NC on short notice. There were 13 adults and two toddlers in the house, so chaos reigned. Shooting time was limited to one morning, and one evening. I did manage to get the shots I had wanted when I was there in June, plus a few distant shots of the local black bears.
Exif should be attached, and as always, C&C appreciated ~ Ron

EDIT TO ADD THAT I HAVE CHECKED THE "SHOW EXIF" BOX...

Almost there.

I clipped the wing tip, but this is full frame. Notice the difference in eye color in the adults and the juvi.

I did see a few other critters while there, and I talked another guest into going with me to look for bears. We saw 11, but all were too far for great shots, but I did manage one shot that didn't turn out too bad.

I was standing on a boardwalk, so the shooting angle is not what I wanted.

This shot is almost a 100% crop

Good set Ron. That little fish isn't going to fill up the bellies of three birds. #3 is my pick of the set. Looks like you got some good light on that sequence.

Great close ups of the osprey nest, Ron! Glad you were able to find a couple breaks in the chaos to get out and shoot. The bear image looks pretty good for being such a heavy crop, and the heron and moon are nice as well.

3 and 5 for me Ron. Try a yellow school bus full of kids, that hose will seem calm

You are a brave and tolerant man Ron

Glad you could get back and have a second chance at getting the shots you wanted. It's great you could get some tighter shots than the first

3 is a grand shot, I might even be supportive of adding some canvas to the left to create a stronger comp. I had no idea there were bears there Then again I don't know much about the OB but I do I would sure like to go there someday.

Real nice set Ron!

Lovely series, Ron. Those osprey shot are terrific. The hand hold shot of the moon at 1/100 is tack sharp. The IS on that lens must be awesome. The clouds really give it some great character.

Fine set, Ron. You did a very good job on the Osprey series. Beautiful detail in the GH shot.
I also like the last shot. The clouds add character to the image

Thanx Ken. I agree about the fish, but dad didn't stay around long.

Thanx Mitesh. Being with that large a group of people is fun for a few days, but doesn't allow much shooting time.

Thanx Morris but no thanx - I did my time on a school bus and it's not going to happen again.

Thanx for the gentle prod on the comp Tim. I had more room, but this is what looked good when I processed it. The OBX is a great place to shoot with a great variety of birds as well as lots of different 4 legged critters including bears and endangered Red Wolves.

Than Ed I'm hoping to go back when the forecast is better just to shoot bears. I will probably go down one afternoon and come back the next day. Want to play??

Thanx Birdie. I have heard that The Alligator River NWR has the largest concentration of Black Bears on the East coast.

Thanx Socrate. The last shot was just a grab shot. The house we were staying in has a deck at roof level. We were up there after dark enjoying adult beverages and after staring at the moon for a while, I decided to get my camera.

Funny thing Eric. Now that I'm retired, I don't feel the urgent need to get out and shoot. I guess the reduced stress level has had an effect on me. And thanx.

Wish I had known you were there, as I was there that weekend also. We hit AWR Sunday morning and saw 16 bears, most at a good distance, but a mom with cubs at about 40 yards.

Love the moon!
