Almost sold my 70-200 vrii this morning. Buyer called to back out. Good thing, I was getting a case of almost sellers remorse.

I regret selling my 12-24 f/4 DX. At the time I was using my 16-85VR on a D7000 and found 16mm to be wide enough. Now with the D7100 I prefer the better performance of the newest 24-85VR and really need that 12=24 to fill out the wide end.

I slightly regret selling my 200 f/4 AFD micro, but I get much more use out of a 70-180 micro, a bargain from a Craig's List seller.

Tokina AT-X AF 300mm F4 in Nikon mount. One of the sharpest lenses I've owned. Only paid $200 and sold it for $460.

It pained me a great deal to sell my EF 85 f/1.2L a few years ago but since I was in the midst of switching systems and soon had nothing left from my Canon days, it had to happen. I took solace in buying the Nikon "Cream Machine", the 85 f/1.4D and eventually bought the classic 85 f/1.4 AI-s, and certainly have no regrets about the switch, but that is one fine lens...

I've said it many times, I would buy a 5D SPECIFICALLY for the 85 f1.2... that lens in unreal

Ditto. I regretted selling mine immediately. Hell, I think I nearly bought yours a few days after I sold mine.

I'm on my third 300mm f/4 af-s, my second 17-55 f/2.8 dx, my second 18-200mm vr (such a great travel lens on my D300). I kind of miss my 200mm f/4 micro, but my 180mm f/3.5 Tamron macro is a decent substitute. I traded my 35mm af-s dx for a 35mm f/2D (to go with my D700) and will more than likely pick up another 35mm dx as it is such a sweet lens on the D300. Yeah, a lifelong of back and forth, back and forth, that's half the fun of it.

Sigma 120-300 OS. Sold my first one (like new condition) that I hand picked, for financial reasons. Totally regretted selling it, even with other super teles in my arsenal. A stabilized 300mm 2.8 lens (with 2x mostly) hits the sweet spot in mobility and reach. The price to performance on this lens is unbeatable! even the Sport version doesn't come close to it.
But when i was looking for one, the used market for this lens totally dried up in the recent times for some reason. Paid $200 more for a copy that was slightly in worse cosmetic condition than I had before. But happy to have it never the less. This one is going to be with me for a long time.

14-24mm and 24-70mm the first times. I've since bought them again and they will stay with me now.

I sold a pristine 180mm 2.8D and I often wish I had that one back for certain occasions. I run across my old photos now and then taken with that lens and man, I wish it was still hanging around.

I ALMOST sold my 200 f/2 but thankfully I came to my senses. I don't use it everyday but when I want it its there and worth the space it takes up.

70-300 VR, 18-70 and 35mm DX, Olympus 45mm 1.8, I wish I had them all back. I miss the lenses but I don't remember what I did with the tiny amount of money I got for them.

I traded away my Nikon 85/1.4G this week, and I think that was a mistake. I'm really happy that I swapped it for a Zeiss 21/2.8 ZF because I've wanted one of those, but still feeling remorseful about the loss of the 85. I rationalize that I have plenty of other lenses I can used for informal portraits, but the 85/1.4G is so smooth and sharp.

I've often regretted selling my 10-24mm and 35mm f/1.8 DX.

I swapped the 10-24 for an 18-35 when I went to FX, but I don't think that the 18-35 is actually any better, and the 35mm range overlaps with my 35A anyway. I didn't realize at the time that the 10-24mm would actually have worked just fine past 16mm or so on FX, so in some ways I would actually be better off with that one than I am with the 18-35 (the 18-35 performs well, it's just not so useful on my D7100).

I have upgraded from D90 and 10-24 to D610 and 18-35. I regret a bit the widest setting missing in the later, but in shared range 18-35G is better. Higher density DX camera is not going to make corners of 10-24 much better.
I have compared both here: http://jtra.cz/stuff/review/nikon-d90+10-24-dx-vs-d610+18-35g-fx/index.html
Also informal flare test with sun in the picture has shown 18-35 has superior flare resitance.

I have tried 10-24 on 12MP FX in past with poor results. See here at bottom: http://jtra.cz/stuff/review/nikkor10-24/index.html

Back in my film days I had a Kiron 80-200 F4 that I replaced with a Nikkor 80-200 F4 the Nikon never was as sharp or crisp handling as the Kiron and I've never sold another lens.

300mm 2.8 AF that was one of the first of the AF 300 2.8's made. It was previously owned by a local photo journalist. It was beat to hell and had fungus. It remains the sharpest lens I have ever had my mits on. Every time I look at a photo I took with it reminds me of just how stupid I was to ever sell it.

No regrets, I never sell anything. I am thinking about letting some tools go for 300/2.8

I have a Sig 35 and 85/1.8G to swap with someone... (I paid for B&S, settle down)

I'd rather have......all the creamy highlight character and flaws of the 1.4D

This is one reason I just sold my 85/1.4G and re-bought the 85/1.4D.

Lenses I wish I hadn't sold?

Nikon 28mm f/1.4D
Nikon 85mm f/1.4D <--- I just bought this again
Nikon 105mm f/2 DC
Nikon 180mm f/2.8ED <--- I just bought this again

I'm halfway back to reacquiring my favorite lens quartet (and will likely add the 135mm f/2DC as well) - they're ripe with character.
