p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Mamiya Lenses for Canon Body

I recently wrote some messages about using Mamiya "C" lenses that I inherited on my Canon 6D and after thinking about what you all said, I think I want to try it because it sounded like you all did. However, now that I'm all reved up to do so, I can't find a lens converter to do this. I called B&H, I tried my local camera stores, I even tried the manufacturer of lens adapters, where the email bounced back, and no one seems to no where to get a lens adapter for older Mamiya lenses (manual focus) to a Canon body.

Has anyone had any experiences with this?
Thanks.

I have a Cirrus adapter - found one like it here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cirrus-Mamiya-645-lens-adapter-CANON-EOS-1-5D-50D-450D-/250744624529

You can find a ton of other M645 to EOS adapters on eBay, if you search for 'M645 EOS' in Cameras & Photo.

There's links to lots of other stuff in these threads...

I prefer un-chipped adapters.

P.S. the best place for this discussion is the "Alternative" forum,

I have the "C" series Mamiya-Sekor lenses. They have a "green" ring around them, if that means anything to you? I never figured out if the green ring does or not, but I know that colored rings around Canon lenses are important. I have three: an 80mm F/2.8; 210mm, F/4; 35mm F/3.5.

What model camera were they used on?

Can you post a few example photos of the lenses? If not, then can you tell us exactly what it says on one of the lenses? All of the text on both the front and or side of the lens.

I've been figuring that you have Mamiya 645 C-series lenses, which are for 645 medium format cameras, but I don't recall seeing green rings on any of the "M645" lenses that I've owned, including,

Mamiya-Sekor 645 C 35mm 1:3.5 N
Mamiya-Sekor 645 C 80/2.8
Mamiya-Sekor 645 C 80mm 2.8 N
Mamiya-Sekor 645 C 210/4 N

I've also owned some "35mm" Mamiya/Sekor lenses, and none of them have had green rings, either.

Maybe you have some 6x7 lenses on your hands. I know that some of them have a blue ring.

Does the lens mount have screw threads or "baoynet mount" flanges? What is the diamater at the mount, either across the threads or the max. diameter across the flanges?

I used a beater of a 35mm Sekor C. It was an excellent lens considering the asking price, age, era in which it was designed and manufactured, and the fact that the sharpness still held up even though my 5D II was peering through smaller portion of the lens than it was actually designed for.

You'll enjoy it, I think. You can expect great uniformity of color and contrast in the M645 line.

I too use a Fotodiox Pro adapter, http://www.fotodioxpro.com/mamiya-645-to-canon-eos-camera-fotodiox-pro-lens-mount-adapter.html
I have used this adapter on my 5DMkII for some time now.
Works good on my Kodak SLR/C too, of course.
And, it works for my FujiFilm X-E1, by adding an XF - EOS adapter.
I have, and enjoy quite a few Mamiya 645 lenses:
- 35/3.5 N
- 80/1.9 N
- 120/4 macro
- 145/4 soft focus

Oooo! What do you think of it?

Do you have any example images that you could post? I'm sure the OP would like to see some.

Sadly, it's been a long time since I've had it out.
I have soo many soft focus lenses now, never mind lenses in general to pick from.
I will have to search for images, I am not sure if I posted some in the ALT forum, or not.
This weekend I'll try to remember to use it, since my purple hibiscus are still blooming.
I'll also try to remember to setup my Mamiya RZ67 Pro II with the RZ 180mm/f4 soft focus lens.
Though, with the Mamiya RZ67 Pro II, I only use film, as I'll never have the monies for a digital back.
I think I might have also posted some scans from the RZ in the ALT film forum?
I have just recently sent in another roll for development and scans too.
I seem to be shooting a lot more film of different formats lately.

Okay,
I posted 3 from this weekend using the 645 Mamiya 145/4.0 SF on Canon 5DMkII.
See the Alternative Gear & Lenses forum, Soft Focus/Selective Focus thread.
