Bummer!
I get bc error when using non Canon lenses via adapters!
I am also getting this error with Kenko extension tubes, not good at all!
I see a switch on the inside of the camera lens mount.
Playing around, I see it needs to stay in the position it's currently at, open?
What is the purpose of this switch?
I guess I will have to wedge it, somehow...
I do not like this at all, missed some really good film shots, sigh...
Luckily I had my 5DMkII there.
But still, NOT the same, damn it!

Anyone else experience this before?
Workarounds?

BC means 'battery check' and usually involves worn or dirty contacts, it could be the battery, internal clock battery, the grip external or internal contacts...even a battery that has a short or is nearing death...or an internal wire/lead break.

As for tubes, adapters and 3rd party lenses, knowing what configurations you are using might help. Other then 3rd party older Canon mount glass, I only have Canon glass and lens accessories and they all work.

Sometimes there are incompatibility with AF confirm chips of adapters and 3rd party lenses and I've no ideas how you might fix them.

As for the small lever inside the body/mount, I remember reading an article long ago about it's usage, I'll pick my pea brain and try to remember where I read the info.

Good luck,
Jerry

When I had ab EOS 3 I used to get the same error whenever I used a Sigma lens and tried to stop down.

I found this article on 'Bob Atkins' website that describes the problem and in theory a fix but there are no instructions, it might be a starting point for you. Some EOS bodies have a microswitch that detects lens types and this might be the issue, if a non-canon lens is reported the camera stops working. You'll have to do more research...

Find the article/paragraph header below to read up on it...

The lens detection Microswitch

Found more info with a possible fix, it involves grinding down a small part on the lens mount; adapter....good luck...it's a multi-page thread on POTN.

Duh, good ol' Bob Atkins, haven't been there in years, shame on me.
Thanks!
