Here a D3s costs 1500-2200€ depending on state and clicks. Saw 2 yesterday in a store, 1 was 1500€ other one 1750€. A second hand D800E is easily 2300€.
Is the D3s so expensive in Amerika?
(btw for electronics 1€=1$)

Sorry I am referring to one that is good cosmetically and operates without much issue.

Yes you can get close. I have both cameras and although the D3s cost me more originally (used <8k clicks) I'm selling it about the same price I paid for my D800E though now it has <20k clicks and is going for $3,200 (sorry, I'm in China otherwise I'd offer you this pristine model) and that's almost exactly what the D800E is going for new on Amazon so if you take a small hit then you may have to add $300-400.

The question is why ?

Personally, as a birder, I have used both extensively and have gone back to the D800E for it's cropability, there is no beating 36MP with small birds (miss the fps of the D3s but that is about all), the 12MP of the D3s is fantastic and I love it for sport and virtually everything else ... but not if you are planning on heavy crops or for landscapes.

so with electronics the euro and dollar are at one to one? where the exchange rate is 1US$= 0.735 euros?

Yes, a new a D4s costs €$6500, D800E was announced at €$3300. Almost always the same.
If someone wants I can ceck out the 2 camera's and buy them for someone with a 10% commision

US price ~$6500.00
BU price ~€6500.00

how does VAT play into that? is it built into the price?
assuming it is:
if i convert my $US to euros and purchase it in Belgium i'm still getting the ~0.735 exchange rate (minus the conversion fee loss) the 6500 euros ends up being ~$8839.00US . then when i get the 21% VAT back being a visitor i end up paying ~$6983.00

Right?

thats not an "issue" that is a known specified rate of operation.
