I'd want the specs to be the same or better as with the d700, which means capable of 8fps minimum.
16mp is fine. The jump in ISO performance is the key, especially without losing FPS.
That seems to be the problem with the high res bodies, including DX. Why does every camera have to be 24mp? The end result seems to be small buffer, low FPS, which is fine for landscapes and portraits, but some of us want to shoot stuff that requires better performance in terms of speed, buffer and ISO.
I'd still like to see a high speed d400 with a tweaked 16mp d7k sensor, to partner with this d700 replacement. I already have a d800 to use on the stuff that doesn't require high performance.
