Was shooting with an OM 50/1.4, really nice. One of my favorites on m4/3. Would like af, though. Is there any way to get this? B&H didn't seem to have any.

Olympus could probably sell quite a few of its later model 50/1.4's in af m4/3 mount. Ff equivalent of 100/1.4.

I doubt you'll see any mirrorless maker re-release 30-40 year old manual lenses in a modern AF mount.

Olympus does have a 45mm f/1.8 which is not that far off from 50mm f/1.4. That might be worth checking out.

If you need the speed, the Panasonic 42.5mm f/1.2 is amazing. Extremely sharp at f/1.2.

And on a budget there's the 45/1.8

Of course you can adapt the excellent 4/3rds 50/2 Macro as well (stunning lens, but large) and the original Sigma 50/1.4 was available in 4/3rds mount as well (it's really a 46/1.4, so falls right in between the 45/1.8 and the 42.5/1.2)

You'd think Olympus would still hold the patents and could put it in a m4/3 mount, maybe with new or late coatings, without too much hassle.

I saw the 1.8 and I guess I could pick it up 2/3 of a stop in pp but hoping for 1.4. Might have to look for at the Sigma, I thought they made m4/3, don't seem to now.

The 42.5/1.2 looks good, but $1500. Good to know it's sharp wide open. The f/0.95 25mm and 42.5 mm would be tempting, at that price range, they're about $1K. No af but that wide aperture would be great.

Oh well I'm probably not buying anything right now, but would be nice to have. Will look at Sigma

Frankly, the old Oly 50/1.4 simply isn't up to the high-density m43 sensors by modern performance standards, the 45/1.8 for example utterly stomps it in wide aperture performance and the 42.5/1.2 is even better.

Oly's not going to update a design which was an average performer 30 years ago and expect to sell it to a much more demanding audience today.

Note of the m43 and 4/3rds lenses discussed, the Sigma is by far the worst performer of the lot. Like the old Oly 50/1.4, it was an average performer at best. You'd be much better off buying the slightly slower 45/1.8 if you want a good performing lens.
