I'm going to sell 70-200 f2.8 zoom and D700.
Does anyone know ball park insurance or shipping costs?

If it's helpful, I shipped just my df body via FedEx ground with insurance for $2750. I think it cost me $30 and insurance was 2/3 of the cost. That was only from San Francisco to Los Angeles.

I just bought a 70-200. Seller shipped from IL to NV via USPS priority with sig confirmation, and the cost was $64.55.

Pack them up in the box and weigh them (postal scale preferred, but other methods are also possible but less accurate). Then go to the website of your chosen shipping company and input a zip code on the other side of the country. (note you usially get a discount if you order online)

My D700 was nearly $50 to ship, including insurance.

For both items with Nikon boxes, about $40-50 insured with direct signature (Fedex)
I highly recommend them, they are professional and reliable.

If you're NOT including the original Nikon boxes, you can use USPS
Large flat rate box and save some money. They cost $17.45 + signature confirmation and insurance, so about $30. Just make sure you pack it up with lots of bubble wrap and it'll be fine.

I never use UPS, I think they are expensive.

NOTE: If this is a paypal-related transaction, any shipment valued $250 or more requires BOTH tracking and signature confirmation. Paypal requires this to be eligible for seller protection.

It cost me $27 to ship my D600 USPS priority, insured, to Nikon a while back if that helps. That was from SF to LA as well though. Insurance was most of the cost as chuhsi1 mentioned. I'd imagine it'll run you 75+ depending on where its going

Holy hell someone got ripped off.

It cost me $80 to ship a 300/2.8 in the trunk with a bunch of accessories weighing around 25lbs, fully insured as well. PA to CO
