Hi,
I m David from Barcelona,
I use a nikon d800E with 24-70 ,but usually mount my zeiss ZF2 all the time.
I am between this classic leica vario 80-200 with new leitax moutn , that avoid the stop down. I m in due for zeiss 100mp.
My first priority is IQ in general terms. I believed leica was over IQ quality, but last information says new zeiss zf2 has better microcontras and easy focus use.
Somebody who had shot with both can share with me the experience?
Which one do I chose?
thanks
I've owned both. I used the Leica on the R9/DMR combo, as well as on Canon 1ds mk III and 5dmk2. I sold it a few years ago after Leica abandoned the R line. Even the sensor for those previous generous Canon cameras were a challenge for the Leica Vario-Elmar to perform optimally well. I still own the Zeiss MP (as well as the Leica 100 macro-elmar), and see no need to get rid of it. I actually really like that lens. If you are only concerned about image quality, then the Zeiss MP will win hands down. The Leica Vario is still a zoom, and frankly, not a terribly modern one. Although the size and mechanical build quality are both to be highly praised, it's probably no better IQ-wise than whatever flavor of the month 70--200 or 80-200 pro level zoom lens is available from Canon, Nikon or even Sigma.
Hope this is helpful.
