Very nice. Thanks for sharing.
How did you get the overhead perspective onon 1?
Hi Andy:
For the overheads I had two setups. First was just me standing on a very tall ladder and shooting down, the second setup was me standing on very same ladder but with the camera at the end of a very long pole controlled by a wired remote. This last part was rather tricky as the weight at the end of the pole was higher than I expected (D4 + 24-70mm or 14-14mm + SB-900 + ball head) and holding it up 10' away from me while standing on a ladder at 13' high was... dicey. Then of course you have to aim the camera correctly!
I tried to get a lift in there, but the campus regulations didn't allow for that :-(
The lighting was with 3 SB-900 speedlights: One on the camera (in commander mode), and two on stands at about 4' high of the ground lighting up the player. It was shot at about 9:30 AM, with the sun already pretty high up in the sky. Shooting fronlighted wasn't and option as the shadow of the ladder would show in the image, so I had to shoot backlit. I think all was shot at around F/10 1/1000 using hypersync mode on the speedlights.
