So I JUST ordered it, kind of on a whim, but I am curious if anyone has theirs yet and has put it through the paces.

I ordered it because I only every shot my 16-35,17-40,T16-28 really on the widest focal length and never worried about blurring the background, so I figure it would live on my Crop which I use sole for backup and weddings and on the slider in video shoots (70D).

Got mine yesterday. Its really nice, but its been on my IR 40D the past 2 days really. Seems to be a LOT better in terms of contrast and sharpness than the 16-35 or the 14 Rokinon for IR work.
Only problem is when I added a 67->72, and a 72->77 step ring the 77 IR filter was vignetting the corners. :/ ordered a 67-77 adapter this am

Looks good. I predict a big drop in sales of the 10-22mm - not many folk are going to pay so much extra for 4mm at the long and better build quality.

Very impressive! MUCH better IQ results than the 10-22mm for a lot less money. Win, win. I suppose a rare few may want a bit fast aperture for an UWA, but I doubt many would pay twice as much for worse IQ for an ultra wide just for f/4.5 vs f/5.6 and such.

I guess I should sell my 10-22mm whilst it still has value. Will probably keep it though, as the extra 4mm is nice to have.

I wonder how this lens can be compared to 16-35II if used on A7R with APS-C size mode?
This lens is a lot smaller and lighter, being less than 1/2 of 16-35F2.8II and 16-35F4L. For landscape/architectural photos, it would serve just fine with slow apertures.

Thinking of minimizing camera set for backpacking photograph. A7R + 1 UWA zoom, ZE55, and a tele zoom(or a prime around 100) would be perfect.

Much better IQ results than the 10-22mm? How did you come to that conclusion?

People over at POTN are also pleasantly surprised at the results of the 10-18mm STM lens. One thing that's not been tested yet is its flare resistance performance. I really wonder how the 10-18mm STM compare against the 10-22mm in terms of flare resistance.

Well I looked at the sharpness charts for both on PZ and the numbers are higher center frame and often much, much higher towards the edges for the new lens.

I got it as a light alternative. the a6000 has the same MP as 5d3, and 1.5 stop advantage DR. Does not need as steady of a tripod. I may even be able the shoot the a6000 combo at iso 100, f5.6, 1/15 sec during golden hour. it would be great combo for hikes if the image quality holds up.

If the EOS-M had garnered more attention, then the optically amazing 11-22 might have been more widely offered- and this question would have been more widely answered earlier

Canon dropped the ball with M john. by the time m2 came out, they already had the dual pixel tech in 70D. M2, Should have been everything sony a6000 was. canon 22 stm, is small, cheap, and optically excellent. the 18-55 stm M is the best cheap kit lens, and as you said, the 11-22 is fantastic. they needed a 50 1.8, and the small 55-200 stm lens, and the system would sell like hot cakes.
