Generic plates are not a very good idea. Do the A-S Kirk and RRS plates/brackets fit?

Yes its Arca-Swiss compatible, so you can attach a variety of different plates on it.

thanks for the suggestions guys my k20x came today and I am very happy with my choice, it is much much bigger than my b0 but i can not even tell the difference when the pod is folded 180 degrees. the b0 was plenty strong for what I do but this one is much smoother with less movement while locking down.

After reading what everyone had to say in this thread, I decided to go with the K20X as well. Now I just need to find a good deal on Ebay before paying full price for it.

as far as I can tell you won't find any deal on ebay. but greentoe.com can do it for 120. which is the cheapest I have seen. (actually the only place I saw for under the full 129.99. I went with amazon because of my prime membership (free 2 day shipping) and the 9 bucks saved was not worth it to me to wait another 2 days (silly I know)

Yeah, I noticed that. Most of them don't have free shipping to Hawaii and Alaska too which is a disadvantage for me. I'll check GreenToe.com and see what their shipping policy is for Hawaii.

Wow, the 40 looks like a beast next to the 20.

Also, your plates look different from mine; here's mine with the plastic alignment tabs:

Tabs? We don' need no stinking tabs!

Yes, they stopped making the plates like that. I had noticed mine looked nothing like the photos, then I checked the website and the plates indeed are different now. They've got an "X" in the name, so rather than a TY-70, it's a TY-70X.
Maybe to mean they "X'd" out the tabs? Kind of funny since they were bragging on the things, and I couldn't figure out what they'd do if anything.

If you look at the photo I posted, you can see the 20's plate has "TY-50X" on it.

Just got a best offer through eBay for $120 free shipping. Of course it's standard shipping and it's coming here to Hawaii so it's still not that bad.

Just make sure it is an actual authorised dealer that is selling it to you. would suck to give up the 6 year warranty

lol you cant see if it is an authorized dealer by anything in the package (even non authorized dealers will have warranty cards in there boxes) just look up the name of the company you bought it from and check it with sirui.

Yup, checked it through their website and it's listed.

It's Philly Photo Supply
I think they accepted my Best Offer because it's their last one.

With a screw clamp any generic plates are fine. It's the lever clamp that gets finicky about dovetail size.

I'm also trying to decide between the k10 and k20. Could you please give me the base diameter of the k20? Some other reviews I have read mention the pan lock not being that tight. How have you found the pan lock?
