Wonderful series Seth. I see you've been around FM for quite a few years but haven't done much posting. If these photos are any indication I believe you have work worth showing. If you have other bridges to share please drop them on the thread. If not, you might wish to check some of the gear and presentation threads to see where you might feel comfortable both sharing your work and your thoughts. It took me quite a few years to get beyond the Buy and Sell board, but once i did i was richly rewarded. There are some great folks on FM, many of whom will share your passions, whatever they may be. Mine are bridges, shooting with extension tubes, but most of all shooting with Nikon manual focus lenses. Enjoy yourself Seth and go find some bridges...

Curtis, it's all thanks to you. If you not opened the topic, we have not had the opportunity to see these beautiful pictures of the great engineering works of humanity, creating and build amazing bridges of our planet. Thank you for a great theme. And again view on Brooklyn Bridge from Manhattan bridge.

Great image Dmitry as always. This one ranks near the top of your work from what I have seen...along with the Central Park winter images and the Verrazano.

Thanks for the kind words, Curtis. Always been a side hobby but am beginning to take it a bit more serious lately so any comments/tips/suggestions are always welcome.

Here's a few from Pittsburgh 3 sisters bridges

Rachael Carson Bridge (9th Street Bridge)

and an artsy B&W crop

Roberto Clemente Bridge (6th Street Bridge)

and another crop/conversion of the last one

These shots are not as artistic, but they may be of interest to those wondering about the views from the top of the new San Francisco Bay Bridge tower.

Two views of the western segment of the Bay Bridge from the top of the new bridge tower:

Fantastic bridge photos Tim. I doubt there will be many other folks showing up on this thread who've been where you've been. That was during construction I note. Were you working there or did you get access as a photojournalist?

I live about fifteen minutes north of the Golden Gate bridge... Hi neighbor...

Hey neighbor!

I wasn't working on the bridge, just fortunate to know one of the contractors who got me access. It was a one time opportunity. I didn't get to pick the day, so it could have been totally fogged in and that would have been it. So I was lucky that it was only hazy over the City that day.

The top of the Golden Gate Bridge is still on my bucket list.

I've mention this before Tim but my neighbor works for the contractor demolishing the old span of the Oakland Bay Bridge and he offered to take me to the site, so hopefully I'll get a few photos as well. I don't expect those would be anywhere near as dramatic as you wonderful set of images.

Good luck getting to the top of the Golden Gate bridge. That would be pretty spectacular as well...

Drama is nice, but to be able to walk in the middle of the old bridge with no traffic is just as cool...especially if you can get some great shots of the new bridge. In a year or so that won't be possible for anyone else.

I know a photographer (Itz Kirb on FB) who has had access to the lower deck of the old bridge for his luxury car shoots.

Centennial Bridge (Leavenworth, Kansas)

Taken with a Cambo 4x5 using a Dayi 6x17 120 film back. Image is full frame.

From wiki: The Centennial Bridge is a through arch bridge road bridge over the Missouri River connecting Leavenworth, Kansas and Platte County, Missouri.

Constructed in 1955, it was initially a toll bridge. The bridge opened in 1955, a year after Leavenworth celebrated its centennial as the first city incorporated in Kansas. It is a two-span arch bridge connecting K-92 and Missouri Route 92. Its main span is 419.8 feet with a total length of 2,571.2 feet.

During the construction a spur of Route 45 called the "Leavenworth cutoff" was built to speed traffic to Kansas City, Missouri. The two-mile spur is still maintained by the city of Leavenworth even though the highway is in Missouri.

Douglas,

Really like your covered bridge shot from New Hampshire. Beautiful!!!

I took a few shots for the bridges in the San Francisco Bay area recently. Here's my take on the western span of the Bay Bridge.

I took a few of the Golden Gate Bridge also. I will post them under the GGB thread. As always, C&C are welcomed!

Thanks Jim. Your pictures of the Bay Bridge are nicely done. I think I only shot the Bay Bridge in 1990, right after I landed in the US as a student. I shot the Goldergate Bridge several times after that. Time sure flies. Thanks for sharing.

Here's a slightly different view of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, this time I've included the Opera House. This is a handheld panorama stitching four shots together..
