Thousands of these on my porch, window sills, and even my car. My size 9 wedding ring for comparison. What are these things? Harmful?

There is a general resemblance, of the body in particular. However, those are eight legs, no antennae and the colour and proportions of the legs are wrong.

Thanks, e6. According to a few websites, these little guys are harmless to humans...good to know! I just don't understand why I keep finding them on my porch and second story window sills. The information I found consistently says they prefer soil. Strange!
