Unfortunately, you can't hear my voice on this forum, and written comments can be easily misunderstood for tone and intent. That is why I prefer to speak with people I mentor/advise on a phone call when giving them advice and giving critical opinions (critique) of their images. Otherwise, what is intended to help someone can be taken wrongly, and that defeats the purpose of the communication. And, because I want to avoid flaming and trolls, I tend to refrain from writing some things here that could be instrumental in helping someone improve, but may be taken out of context or misused by others. So, I limit my written comments here...though I am sure some will disagree on that last point.

Quick Comments:
From this set I most like image 1.
Simple Suggestion: Crop Image 1 from bottom to leave bottom edge just above the pockets, crop from top a little to fit the shape of print you want. I see it as a square.
Image 2 has nice expression, but has "orange glow" on his face.
Your intro remarks say you used ambient light (no flash).
Last image (it sure APPEARS flashed) is least flattering on his face (see skin). The flash is too much IMO. Other images look better. As this does appear flashed, I suggest you change your intro remarks.

Thanks for the feedback, Steady.
I see your point in regards to a square crop for image 1.
Perhaps I should re-calibrate my monitor. I don't see an "orange glow" on his skin, but if it's there my guess is due to my chosen WB setting.
Image 5 is ambient lighting as well, but appears flashed which is why I made a point to say so. We were in an outdoor stairwell of sorts with a small open window behind me. The location was an abandoned castle with no ceiling, just open structure. The catch lights in his eyes are deceiving as I can assure you it's natural light.
