I'm trying to get some opinions on the purchase of the lens. I have an opportunity to buy a Non IS 400 but it's an older lens. According to the date code it's a 1998 lens UM. The person is asking $3600 and it looks like it's in good shape. What do you think?

Price sounds just about right. It's a great lens just a little heavy. Here's some recent pics that I took with mine. It's also a 1998 model.

That's a killer deal.... Mine's a 1996 vintage. Still rocks! The only thing to be wary of is the lack of parts if you EVER need them...
