Pixelmator v3.2 now has full 16bit support for editing

Pixelmator meets my needs for editing a 48bit TIF exported from my RAW converter

Picked up Pixelmator when it was at half price a few weeks back ... will have to wait a few more weeks to really kick the tires, though I do like what I have seen so far ... Once the school year is over, I'll have more time.

Even though, it isn't a total 100% replacement for Ps ... it is pretty darn close for a single, under $30 one-time payment ... and you can install it on up to five machines if you buy from the Mac OS X store.

I've owned and used Ps for over 20 years and it is severely bloated ... especially for photographers ... Pixelmator is a smaller, light weight, efficient option that fits the budget with a very reasonable and equitable end user license.

most of my RAW conversions do not need any external editing
using DPP or Capture One
if it does Pixelmator v3.2 can get the job done

I have grown to hate Adobe's bloatware, and their attitude as a company.
also not impressed with ACR RAW conversions
but others seem to love them
we just have to find the right tools for each of us. For some Pixelmator, for some Photoshop, or other tools.

I've grown to hate Apple's attitude even more than Adobe's, so I'm afraid no Pixelmator for me even though it looks impressive on their website; it doesn't work on a windows pc.

That's a good thing from my point of view. Too many software products are limited by the lowest common denominator of features available on all the OS the support.

I picked up at sale prices Pixelmator, Acorn, and Aftershot. All have promise though Corel's offering shows its age. I'm still in the experimentation stage with both Pixelmator and Acorn, but I think either can do probably 80% - 90% of the PHOTOGRAPHIC work I have used CS6 for in the past. Ps' known bloatware has turned it into the kitchen sink for all things even vaguely related to an image. For most of the graphic artists I know (a small number), it and Ai are indispensable so they're stuck in the hostageware. 90% of my work is photographic, thus the design features aren't that necessary.

I find my problem to be "knowledge inertia." I've invested so many years in hacking and whacking at photoshop that it's hard to let go of the program. Since I'm not signing up for CC - at least in its current form - I'll eventually be pushed to something else - then? <shrug> I'll be motivated to learn.
