p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Lube for a ball head?

I have a Manfrotto 496 RC2 ballhead and I noticed that it is getting quite stiff to move around, even when I loosen it up all the way. Are there any recommended methods to get this fixed back to factory like condition?

A secondary issue I noticed is that the "button" which presses down to lock the clamp onto the plate also is not very smooth, I have to muscle it in there a little bit.

Has anybody else had issues like this? I dont think this is normal as I also have a 484rc2 which operates smooth and flawlessly - I just dont trust it when packing on some weight, especially outdoors.

Thanks for any help

Usually a manual gives cleaning instructions. For my rrs heads lubing is a no no.
You could always email or call them.

Yes, send it in for service. By the time the ball and internal components become stiff there may already be damage done. Don't keep using it.
