Often, the setting sun turns the ginormous rock into a fiery ember that sticks out of the middle of the central desert that is the Land of Oz.
Called "The Outback" by Aussies, this land is fiercely hot and dry.
It's cattle country- and ranchers had better know where to find water.
Water is so scarce in the Outback- the men (blokes) and women (sheilas) drink only beer .

I may need to learn how to drink beer when I go to this place.
Yes, need to learn.. what is so funny?

Anyway, another nice capture, Charlie.

Thanks, all.
Every day is different out on the very flat red center, depending on the clarity of the air, the amount, color and location of dust in the air (much of the soil IS reddish), how close the sun is to the absolute horizon, etc.
I only saw two sunsets and two sunrises and the first of each were rainy and muddy.
Then it cleared and the second sunset was very much like this. Perhaps not so brilliant because I was using Kodachrome slide film which loves reds- and I always underexposed by 25% (over-exposure kills slide film). That normally enriches reds and yellows.
And I love reds.

Charlie, you do get around. Always enjoys your pics. I have no problem with that beer for water substitution.
