p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Mr. and Mrs. Orchard Oriole

A very productive day yesterday despite the fact that it was like pea soup out in the Swamp. It made for some interesting and moody shooting to say the least. Much was done at very high ISO (5-8000) and so many of the shots are more of the documentary nature but every now and then I got some that were ok. Mr. and Mrs. Orchard Oriole seem to be starting a life together. Just a couple and more over the next couple of days.

1 Mr. Orchard Oriole (I wrestled with how to crop this for quite a while and so I didn't...if only it was facing to the viewers left it would have been much easier)

Mrs. Orchard Oriole with nesting material...busy background but that's the best I could muster

Not to bad Eric- I find one of the most useful features of the latest generation cameras is high ISO capability for shooting natural history. Personally I tend to try not to go over 1600 but sometimes bite my lip and crank it up to 3200. For over 3200 I'd say you've done well.

I really like what the lighting has done for the first two Eric, the details on the bird come shining though. If these exposures were as shot I might push them a bit in raw or brush some exposure on the subjects, that may make them pop a bit better. It's cloudy here for my brief shooting window this morning, I'm staying in. Good on you for heading out

The wee bit of budding foliage, and the wonderful background in the first two make them very special. All nicely done, Eric.

I like them Eric. The diffuse lighting makes it easier to get exposures. Great BGs in the first two too ~ Ron

The first is my pick Eric,

Possibly a bit too much noise reduction on the second took the feather detail. The last is nice as well

#2 for me. I like the tighter crop. And the BG is better and I love that perch. Don

Beauties, Eric. The pea soup effect really worked on #1. Now it just needs a nice border along with your copyright signature.

Thanks Ed...It was a weird weather day that made it better for some types of shooting and worse for others.
