I seek your opinion in regard to what of these fountain shots you prefer.

My own take has them at 5, 1, 2, 3, 4, but your opinion is valued. Thanks, in advance, for your help.--Frank

All have an appeal to them compositionally to varying degree.

I'm not personally a big fan of the surreal sat/colors @ magenta buildings, etc.

4&5 (also 1 a little) might benefit from some vertical straightening.

I think I like #4 the best for its tonal values that draw you to the fountain more than the skyline. Might be something you want to consider applying toward the others to help draw the eye of the viewer to the fountain, (balance vs. prominence).

1 and 3. 4 has the cleanest composition, but I don't care for the colors. They seem to have a gritty feel like they were oversharpened.

Thank you, gentlemen. I appreciate the feedback.

All were a photomatix merge of 3 to 5 images. The building is actually close to a megenta color, but I understand the concern with the saturated colors.

The following is a more straight from the camera, single shot, with a little vertical straightening:

I'd suggest cropping out the fence in your most recent edit.

Still seeing a SLIGHT right-heavy tilt.

Where is this?

Cheers!

I love seeing some Chicago images. Used to live there. Great city!

I think your composition of #5 with the fountain toning of #4 would be my favorite image. Focus on the fountains with classic skyline backdrop.. awesome...

I don't like #2 and #3 as much because the top of the Sears Tower is cut off.

The fountains would be more elegant with longer exposures to blend the waters stream rendering the water less corpuscular.

Thanks, Auntipode. I totally agree. I just didn't have an ND polarizer with me to be able to get the required shutter speeds.
