My only real complaint about that model was it wasn't great in the low noise department. If they lick that it could be a real show stopper. Mechanically you couldn't really fault it. Would be a real nice comeback for Sony if they could take that sensor to the next step of performance.

It seems like they should be a generation away from removing the SLT mirror which should help a lot in improving noise.

If I were Sony, the Sony A78 would be the same form factor roughly but in E-Mount with an Alpha mount adapter that was both compact and looked integral to the body.

Wonder if Sony will put the AA-less version of their 24MP APS-C sensor in there, and if they'll have a variable AA filter like Pentax used in the K-3?

I agree--the days of glass designed for a reflex mirror (or translucent) have past.

Yes, they should put all their resources to mirror less only.

I was hoping we were going to see an announcement for a killer, gotta-have-it prime. Maybe next week.

There goes Sony again, removing basic features from supposed model upgrades. If you had the A77 (also crippled in some ways compared to A700) and "upgraded" to this new A77mkII you will lose the built-in GPS and AF assist lamp and you will pay an additional $400 more for it.

As long as they improve their quality- the FE55 is sharp but not well corrected, and the rest are mediocre. Might as well use adapters with A-mount lenses like Sony expects you to.

The assist lamp is now part of the on-board flash (from what I understand).

I'm guessing Sony learned most people were like me. I shut my a77's GPS off when I first received it, and never changed the setting. I have 2 hand-held GPS's, I don't need a 3rd, and I'm glad to save the battery drain. The a77MK2 is about $200 cheaper than the original. Although the GPS chip can't be too expensive, when you're trying to arrive at a price, some frills have to be cut.

The A77ii also gained Wifi in place of the old GPS unit.

If that's what Sony expects then it's time to sell my A7 and never look back.

Well, they have made it relatively easy. And I can say that the approach can work- it works extremely well with my EOS-M and EF lenses.

But if you wanted a complete, high performance, high image quality system from Sony, well, their history should have steered you otherwise .

The FE line was just shipped a few months ago. Even Fuji took a long while to get their lens line up fleshed out.

It's disappointing that the 24-70 F4 is essentially a really excellent 35-70 F4 but I have high hopes for the UWA zoom.

This may sound negative but I don't have high hopes for their FE UWA. It's likely to be compact with many compromises. I'm expecting similar performance to their FE 24-70 which was disappointing to me.

I'm expecting it'll probably be a really good 21-35mm F4 zoom.

Sony has a habit of doing this even with their collapsed zoom kit lens 16-50. That should have really been a 20-40 zoom like Samsung did. It's excellent in that range for it's size.
