Took this a while ago but had to wait for a bit to get the light how I wanted it. Captured on large format 4x5".

Thanks as always for looking.

Great light Nigel! What type of film and scanner did you use?

Nigel: Great capture here. The light and depth are fantastic; well placed in this pleasing image.

Amazing place, I wish I was able to go here on my last visit to Salt Lake City.

Its pretty amazing how well film stacks up to digital, for some reason when I was shooting medium format I couldn't get anything like this. This looks so clean, sharp, and the colors are amazing compared to the more saturated images we are used to seeing now.

Really nice light and image Nigel. I normally like some foreground subject as well, but in this case you might consider a crop just above the light foreground rocks and a little off the right side so that the red-brown rock formations go into the lower right corner as an alternative interpretation. This would give you two diagonals leading into the picture.

Very nice lighting.
I still love colors tone from Film. It's difference between Film and digital .I just can't describe.

I really like this Nigel.
Besides the obvious detail in the image, and cool storm, what people may not notice is that the viewpoint is more obscure, and is not the typical one for this location.

Kind of a weird anomaly though in that it shows much darker on my primary Dell 24" monitor, but shows perfectly fine on my Dell laptop. Usually, it's the opposite.

Love it!

Would like to see little more detail in the far BG, but i am not on calibrated screen at the moment...

Hi Brian,

The film stock was Fuji 50 (the 50 iso film before Velvia came about) and the film was scanned on a Tango Drum scanner.

Thanks.

Awesome shot. Rich color and tones. Very nice. Looks like film. (Could be Medium Format Digital).

Love the dramatic light.
