I think the concept for that first one is really good, but for my taste the shadows in the middle are just too contrasty. For me, it might have worked better to have a light up front doing a slight fill.
I agree with Ron on the first one. With a little frontal fill, it probably would have illuminated the floor just enough to make the dancer grounded to something.
