I was recently on a trip down to Patagonia. In the town of El Calafate, they have a wildlife refuge between the town and lago Argentina. I spent a day wandering around, and what did I find, they have blinds set up just for visiting photographers.

So, there I was, doing my best to get photos of flamingos that weren't a butt shot, and I see a duck swimming in my direction at about twenty knots. Did I mention the wind? Wind so steady it was just part of the climate, and so strong it could knock you down?

This duck was using the wind to propel him/herself.

A pair, hiding at the edge of the water, asking

Chingolo, the rufous-collared sparrow

And I think thisd one is a grey Monjita (cropped, he wasn't happy about my big white)

I added a few images.

Man, the 100-400 is really useful, but the autofocus shows its age. Some of these I had to really work for, the af was too slow to track BIF.
