That is a pretty cool scene, and looks good in B&W. I think the lit up rocks though are just a bit too bright. Tone those down a little and this one will sing.

Very nice pic. I'm guessing this was taken before the flood? I haven't been there this year but have heard it has mostly been washed away....

Thank you for the feedback! Also appreciate your guys' keen eyes. Funny the rocks were already toned down! I'll try to do more adjusting. Composition and tonality what do you think?

Gary I too was told it was all washed out so I was surprised to see it looking the same as when I went pre-flood! A lot more boulders in the river though upstream

Rocks on the right side seem a little blown out. otherwise, excellent!

I agree with Mike and Jim that the rocks on the right side are too bright. The composition looks good for my eye though, and I like the range of tones on the LHS.

I went back to look at this image and on my NEC monitor, the rocks were not blown out, but when I looked on my phone they definitely were. Maybe my monitor is too darkly calibrated but I think it's around 110. Oh well.

Does it look better on your guys'?

They weren't blown out, they just were too bright for my tastes relative to the rest of the scene. I prefer the repost.

Just my opinion, but I think something about halfway between the original and the repost would be better.

I agree. These rocks are very light in color and reflect light much the same way as snow. I would expose just so the highlights are clipping and then back it off a bit. Between the two images you posted should be just fine.

I agree somewhere in the middle was best, but sometimes for us newbies (ie: me) it's not so obvious when/where to get let highlights come through or tame them down. The feedback you guys provided is wonderful and I honestly do appreciate it, it makes me a better photographer.

I have posted a final version in the original post.

I'm by no means an expert eye, but I enjoy looking at your final image. Appears to be more tone balanced.

Beautiful image of a great spot. I really like your pp. I haven't been out that way since prior to the flood, but might have to take a quick jaunt out there soon.
