Beautiful Day when we set off to visit Delicate Arch - however the storm clouds soon developed and we I was suitably drenched (having left my waterproof in the car!)
Taken with a 14mm Rokinon Lens on a 5D3.

I really like the angle here, and the atmospherics are great. The composition works as well. I feel that your processing is a bit too "crunchy" though. By that I mean the contrast is very high, and the mid-tones seem a bit bright in places, and the shadows fall off very fast from bright to very dark. There are also some areas along the horizon that are blown out perhaps because of the processing, and you might have some information there in the original file. I think you have something very good here, and would love to see it tweaked to be a bit less crunchy.

Thanks Ben. I'll give it another go and see if I can improve the image.

I have to agree with Ben,although I'm not sure the term "crunchy" is what I would use. Overall, I think the processing is just too "heavy handed" being done in a sledgehammer way across the entire image. In an attempt to maximize the stormy moodiness it then kills the details in the sandstone,or turns areas black. Kind of like when a GND is used excessively and fixes a sky but turns a tree black.

With this image I think the processing needs to be done selectively within various zones of the picture.

Just my opinion though.

Hi Graham,

I hate to differ from my friends here, but I think the look here is a nice refreshing take on Delicate Arch. I would try recovering some of the blown areas. And my friends did all offer valid suggestions, so if you rework this, it would be interesting to see the difference. But I do like the overall mood of this one.

the good thing is that the processing can be redone.
