Pablo, I shot that CV combo for awhile...replaced it with the Rokinon 14 f2.8
If you can live with 28mm on da cropper, Nikkors 28 f1.8G is insane.

Yeah, the 20/1.8 and the 28/1.8 may be the hot set up, but I was hoping for a lens about half as long.

I really like my D7K. It's great for family stuff too. Just a quick pic of my sons...

This is in a greenhouse here in Chicago. I used my 70-300mm VR. Certainly there is better gear for this, but I happy with the way it came out.

I really think the key to a good shot out of a D7000 is getting exposure for your shooting conditions right, in camera. It doesn't matter if you shoot JPGs or RAW. Get exposure right and everything else is ansilary.

Really? People are blaming the camera for their crappy shots The only issue I have with the camera is that sometimes you get oil spots on the sensor. Something I can easily clean myself, no big deal. The camera survived a 4 hours downpour and that's something very special to me.

I did my first cleaning last month of my used D7000. I did have an oily spot. I don't know if that is typical of that model.

Early serials of the D7000 had an issue with oil spots. Some (like my first one) required a trip to Nikon to solve. I would wet clean my sensor and within 20 shots, I would have to clean it again. It ruined all my shots I took on my honeymoon. The spots were so numerous and large that I would spend an hour or two per image trying to fix. The mountains were easy, the Eifel Tower, not so much.

My second D7000, late serial, no issues.

Hey Will, question for you... Since you like to shoot SOOC, do you ever use lens filters (talking the colored ones, red, yellow, green, etc.)? I just started shooting film again and brought these out. At least the yellow is showing merit when shooting b/w. I get a better contrast using the filter than I do using the yellow filter preset and ramping up the contrast using the JPG engine. Any thoughts?

Hey, Kevin. I've messed a bit with the filters in the Retouch Menu (in camera)
but haven't used screw-ons since da film days. Might be fun to try one w/digital.

I put on a yellow filter and set the b/w to just the basic setting for monochrome. Contrast was better, software didn't give any weirdness like using the yellow filter setting in-camera. Worth a try.

I shot with a D90 for quite a while and then spent over a year with the D7000. Loved the camera and got some incredible shots. Moved over to Canon to try the 5Dc and enjoyed it, but never really fell in love. I don't shoot many portraits, so I think that was my mistake. I ended up picking up a used D600 this past weekend but haven't got a chance to use it much. Reading this thread really makes me think that I should has saved the extra $500 and just got another used D7000 instead.

Some more 'monkey shines with da D7K. I feel like I'm cheatin'
the keeper rate is absolutely obscene, regardless of the subject.

One of my favorite lens to use on the D7000 is the Sigma 17-50

Doh!

This is actually with the Tokina 11-16

Very nice Will, nice indeed. The first is my favorite. Did you set the crop in camera to 4:3 for these?
