....burnin' in my heart.
I can't keep from cryin', it's tearing me apart."
How frustrating it was to have what for me was the perfect set up to photograph a peregrine falcon on the California coast at the beginning of the year. We were traveling up Hwy1 when I caught sight of this perching bird and made my wife pull over on a winding road. I walked back up the highway and saw the raptor perched beautifully on top of this plant. Having my 1Dx and 600 +tc I figured I was going to nail this sucker but hold on a minute cowboy....I couldn't achieve focus. This was the second time in a couple of days that heat waves wrecked havoc with getting the shot. No matter what I tried, shooting at 5.6, 13, manual focus, autofocus...you just can't overcome physics I guess. I know now that I should have removed the tc and that might have helped a wee bit. Anyway this is the best of the worst.
Oh yeah, I could have tried to get closer but that potential 1500' drop to the ocean didn't seem such a good idea.
