This assortment was photographed in the afternoon at Nickerson Beach, Long Beach Island, New York on April 6. I had a ball entering the world of these small birds.

The sun popped out just as the sanderling approached me and the combination of the sun and my flash at such a close distance must have felt very warm to the pore bird. At least I did not incinerate it. I was mostly able to recover the image in Photoshop though I admit it’s breast is not up to my standards.

Pretty set Morris, the Piping Plover is my favorite of the set, it has gorgeous lighting and the water and slight reflection work wonderfully.

I love the little pigment spot on the iris of the oystercatcher. I've seen that spot on these guys all over the world. The piping plover is a super image and my top pick!!!!!!! Don
