I'm deciding whether or nor to buy the sigma 18-35mm. I don't plan on upgrading to FF any time soon. For that reason, I wanted a lens that was significantly better than the basic kit lens that canon gives out. While I have read reviews left to right, I wanted to hear personal accounts of their thoughts on this lens. If you have one, please do give me your opinion on it.

Thanks!

I rented this for a trip to Chicago to use on my 60d. I loved the way my images turned out. Great color rendition, DOF, etc.

The only negatives I can think of are that it's a bit heavy (but not unreasonably so), and that the zoom range isn't all that much. If I wasn't planning on getting a 6d soon, I would definitely buy this lens.

70D w/ sigma 18-35mm f1.8, shot through window at Akros Hotel, Quito Ecuador

This lens is tack sharp wide open, extremely fast aperture, and balances well with a gripped body. The AF is quick and good (may need some adjusting in camera or via dock), and the color rendition is superb

There is no issue stopping it down to f16 (as small is you can go). And wide open at its widest point, the corners seem to retain most of their sharpness.

I have a 70D with this lens, and I have to say that the lens is the only reason I'm keeping the 70D (aside from random wildlife when extra reach is needed). If you shoot cropped bodies and can afford this lens, it is well worth it.

The only negatives is - very limited zoom range, weight can be cumbersome, and entrance price. Saying all that. I'd still recommend this lens.

If it had a smidge more range or was a smidge wider I would have opted for it over the 17-55 2.8... the pictures look amazing. If my pockets were deeper I would get this one NOW.

It is the perfect indoor family event lens. It's like having the the full frame equivalent of 3 great primes: 28 1.8, 35 1.8, and 50 1.8.
