Thanks a lot for the votes and compliments everyone. Sorry for the slow reply. I'm just taking a quick break in Page Arizona before heading away from civilization again. Some seriously epic stuff to come, and I'm not even half way through the trip

to be honest I've been really undecided on this image. It's near perfect conditions and of course the subject matter is excellent, but the composition really just doesn't work for me. I haven't looked through the whole thread, but I would almost cut off a pretty significant portion of the image on the right. The texture on the rock is cool, but it's just one more element in an already busy scene.

I think I would have to see this printed to really draw any final conclusion, on screen it's just too busy and confusing of a composition, in a large print it may work as a more immersive type of experience as you pan from one side to the other catching all of the small details and get drawn into the image, and knowing your techniques I am sure there is no shortage of details to see.

Thanks Brad. This entire day was pretty original with conditions. Hoar frosted everything in the morning. Fog with light breaks mid morning. Mid day light rays, and this killer light near sunset, all at the peak of Larch fall colour

Sorry for missing your reply bud, I was away. I could definitely see cropping off the right side up to where that little vein of snow comes to the top of the rocks, but other then that I dont think the comp is all that confusing. It definitely is full of interest though. Rock foreground drawing you into the scene, tree/lake midground, and the mountain/valleys as the main focal point of light interest in the background. I actually plan on entering a few of my images into the epson pano awards this year, so keeping them at a 2:1 aspect ratio is something I will be pretty strick on doing since it is the minimum ratio for entering. I wont just make panos for the sake of making panos, but the full image still works well enough to not be cropped, at least for me.

This is a very beautiful shot. Just amazing light/sky. Congrats.
Did you apply some "glowing" affect to the sky?
