Can anyone tell me anything they can about this Taylor-Hobson lens?
It's a Taylor-Hobson Ortal 1 3/8 inch 35mm 2.8 T3. It looks like a smaller screw mount. Basically I'm just looking for any info, what camera its made to go on, if it can be adapter to anything more modern, and a potential value. I can't find the exact lens on ebay and the other Taylor-Hobson lenses on their vary a lot in price and aren't quite the same.
It looks like a C-Mount lens, which would be a 1" (25mm, i forget) screwmount. the image circle will fill a Nikon V series camera, most likely not fill a u43 camera- at least those I use do not.
Some C-mount lenses will cover mFT sensors; longer focal lengths are more likely to work. This seems to be a 35mm f2.8 (1 3/8 inches=35mm) so it will probably work. I have a C>mFT adapter and the lenses were fun to play with.
Very interesting and thanks for the info everyone. This lens is for sale at a local antique shop but they are asking quite a bit for it. Looks like it may not be worth the price they are asking although I would love to play around with it.
If it's at an antique shop, you can always tell them what it really is and bargain. I suspect they have no clue. It rarely goes the other way, ie "underpriced"- but does happen.
Unless you're in Ottawa and the place it's for sale is the Camera Trading Company on Bank St, I suggest you ask them about it. Of course, if it's not them, and it's a good price, they might buy it.
